Proper Grooming Of Your Chinchilla

Chinchilla Chinchillas

Your pet Chinchilla can be kept clean with dust. You should know the process on how your pet Chinchilla’s fur can be kept clean. Oil and dirt easily thrive on your pet’s fur. The dust causes the oil to be released from your pet’s fur.

Dust Bath

It is important that you give your pet a regular dust bath. If you don’t, you will notice that your pet can easily get stressed out and this might even trigger certain health issues. They can also incur some behavioral issues altogether. Give your pet a dust bath most especially when its warm. You can do the bathing for about 10 minutes. When it’s cold, you can still bathe your pet but of course in greater time spans like twice a week instead of thrice or every day.

If your pet’s skin does not get dry easily, you can give it a dust bath every day. But in order for you to make sure, it would still be best for you to consult and seek the help of your veterinarian.

No Smoking

Avoid smoking when you are near your pet Chinchilla. Second hand smoke can damage and weaken your pet’s health. The tar of the cigarette can cover their fur and they can taste the smoke because they clean themselves by licking their fur so they can taste the tar of the smoke.

Bath

You can also mix arm & hammer baking soda and use it to give your pet a bath. This can help make your pet smell and feel fresh. If your pet is sprayed with urine, use a damp cloth and wipe your pet gently and after which, administer a dust bath.

However, if your pet Chinchilla is allergic to dust, wipe its nose as often as you can. Chinchillas that are allergic to dust clear their nose often. If the eyes of your pet waters extensively, then that can be a clear indication that your pet can be allergic to dust or worse, it can also be an indication of pneumonia..

Massage

You can also give your pet a massage everyday. Usually, your pet will get used to administering dust bath on itself. If they don’t like it at first, just be patient because it can take them some time to adjust.
